Patch Level Update - HI-TECH C PRO for the PIC10/12/16 MCU Family v9.60PL2
      #65372 - Tue Jul 15 2008 06:35 PM

HI-TECH C® PRO for the PIC10/12/16 MCU Family v9.60PL2 features:
  • Compile in Lite mode:
  • A free C compiler is now available that supports all Microchip PIC10/12/16 devices, has no memory restriction and never expires. The industries preferred choice of professional C development tools can now be installed and operated in "Lite mode" which is essentially the same easy-to-use HI-TECH C PRO compiler, however compiler optimizations are disabled. The licence also permits the Lite mode compiler to be used for commercial development.

  • Includes latest HI-TECH Universal Toolsuite (for use with Microchip MPLAB IDE)
  • The latest version of this plug-in allows more selection of the build summaries that are available, Option to extended address zero of the Intel hex file, Displays compiler serial number and other details upon build completion.

  • PICKit2 support
  • Now the MPLAB PICKit2 debugger is a selectable debug tool compatible with this compiler.

  • Easier installation
  • The compiler quickstart guide is available during product installation which makes it easier for first-time users to start programming.

  • More control over RAM banking
  • A new driver option, --BANKQUAL can be used to specify the compiler's response to bank qualified C variables. Bank qualifiers can be ignored completely allowing the compiler unrestricted preferences for variable allocation. Qualifiers can be taken as user suggestions allowing the compiler to relocate to another bank if the request cannot be met. Adherance to bank qualifiers can be made mandatory and an inability to facilitate request result in build failure (compatible with PICC STD functionality).

  • Improved debugging
  • This version of the compiler includes various fixes and improvements to debugging for greater visibility of variables.

  • Extended zero address in Intel Hex file
  • It is now possible to extend address zero in the Intel hex file from the PICC command line (and MPLAB project settings). This is done to comply with the requirements of some device programmers and debuggers.
